These elongated berries, besides their sweet and slightly sour taste, are rich in vitamins A, C, and E, potassium, and calcium. They are delicate and do not tolerate storage, except in jams, drinks, ice cream, and similar treats. Therefore, use them fresh in May, as soon as you pick the ripe fruits, which can yield up to 3 – 5 kg per bush. The bush itself is deciduous, grows up to 2 meters tall, and can live for up to 25 years, thriving even in low temperatures, blooming even at -1ºC. Plant haskap seedlings in late autumn or early spring in well-drained soil with a pH value of 4.5 – 6.0, water them regularly, and keep them weed-free. Give them enough space – 3 meters between rows, and 1.5 meters within the rows.
